New Zealand beat France in Hertz Sevens' quarter-finals

New Zealand has defeated France 22-7 in the 2012 Hertz Wellington Sevens, part of the HSBC World Sevens Series.

The hosts will now play England for a place in the Cup Final, who accounted for Tonga 26-7.

Fiji and Samoa meet in what is a mouthwatering semi-final on the other side of the draw, with either the joint Series leaders or the 2009/2010 champions meeting the winner of NZ and England.

New Zealand are tied in the overall series with Fiji with 51 tournament points, while England has 47.

South Africa, second in the overall standings with 48 points, were beaten 5-21 by Fiji, while Canada gave a good account of themselves losing 12-15 to Samoa.

The series moves next week to Las Vegas in the United States.
